Clusters of banned Steam accounts that list each other as friends. The map is rebuilt by a nightly job.
Click a circle for the accounts behind it and the clusters it is linked to. Small groups that only know each other sit apart in a dashed ring at the edge. Click a legend entry to zoom to that game. Every cluster has its own link, so you can share it. Drag a circle to move it, scroll to zoom, Reset lets the layout settle again.
Each circle is a cluster of banned Steam accounts that list each other as friends, and both sides of that friendship have a scanned friend list in our database. Circle size is the number of accounts. Clicking a circle opens the most connected accounts in it, so you can go from the cluster to the actual profiles.
Not every group of banned accounts makes the map. A cluster is only drawn when it is really connected: every account has to know at least 3 others inside the cluster on average, and the group has to use at least 5% of the friendships that would be possible inside it. That is why the map shows 0 accounts and not every banned account we know. A loose blob of 2,000 accounts that happen to share a few friends is not a network, so it is left out.
Color is the game the cluster plays. Steam does not say which game a VAC or game ban belongs to, so the game is a vote inside the cluster: every account with known playtime votes once for the game it played most, and a game needs a quarter of those votes. When several games clear that bar, the one that is most unusual for Steam wins, because CS2 is the top game almost everywhere and a CS2 majority says little on its own. The panel shows how far a cluster sits above the average, so 70x Call of Duty MW2 reads differently than 1.5x CS2. A circle stays grey and reads "Mixed" when no game is clear enough, which is common because banned accounts usually hide their playtime.
A dashed line between two clusters means the two groups are friends with each other more often than their size alone explains. The raw number of shared friendships is useless here, since two large clusters always share some. Each cluster shows at most its 3 strongest links.
Banned friends whose own list was never scanned are not drawn. They still count on a profile as banned friends, but a one-way link is not a network. Normal, unbanned friends stay off the map.
The page reads a snapshot file. Opening it does not scan friend lists and does not call Steam. A console job rebuilds the file.
