API Terms

These terms apply to everyone who uses the cheatercheck.io API (/api/v1) with an API key.

1. Attribution

You must link to cheatercheck.io wherever you show data from this API, preferably to the player's profile (profileUrl in every response). The link text or logo must be at least 12px, visible and not hidden. You can download the logo on your API page.

2. Allowed use

  • Do not build a mirror database. Cache responses only as long as you need them to show them.
  • Do not share your API key or try to get around the quota, for example with multiple accounts.
  • Every key is linked to the website or Discord server where you use it. Keep that link up to date, we use it to check attribution.
  • Do not use the data to harass or target players.

3. The cheat score is an estimate

The cheat score is an automated estimate based on public bans, community reports and other signals. It is not proof that a player cheats. Do not present it as a fact and do not punish players based on the score alone.

4. Quotas and capacity

Every account has a daily token quota. Live Steam lookups share a daily capacity across all API users. When it is used up, cached data stays available and live lookups resume later.

5. No guarantee

The API is provided as is, without any guarantee of availability, correctness or completeness. We can change the API, the quotas or these terms at any time. Breaking changes come as a new version (/api/v2).

6. Suspension

We can revoke API keys or block accounts at any time, especially if these terms are broken.

7. Privacy

The API only returns derived data and public Steam ban flags. Details are in our privacy policy.
